Countries Eligible for Visa-Free Entry in 2025

For selected nationalities, traveling to Vietnam has never been easier. With the updated visa exemption policy, travelers from 29 countries can now visit Vietnam without applying for a visa — perfect for short-term holidays, MICE trips, or cultural discovery tours.

What is Vietnam Visa Exemption?
Vietnam visa exemption (also known as visa-free entry or visa waiver) allows citizens of eligible countries to enter Vietnam without needing to apply for a visa, and stay for a specified duration depending on nationality. Upon arrival, travelers receive a visa exemption stamp directly in their passport.
Note: This is different from the Vietnam 5-year visa exemption certificate, which applies to overseas Vietnamese or their family members.
Visa-Free Countries & Duration (Effective 2025)
As of 2025, citizens of the following countries may enter Vietnam without a visa for the period listed below:
• Chile, Panama: 90 days
• Cambodia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand: 30 days
• Philippines: 21 days
• Brunei, Myanmar: 14 days
• Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom: 45 days
• Kazakhstan: 45 days (Max 90 days within 180 days)
• Switzerland, Czech Republic, Poland: 45 days (when traveling on a tour operated by a licensed Vietnamese travel company)

Entry Requirements for Visa-Free Travelers
To enjoy visa exemption, you must ensure:
• Your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival.
• Your passport contains at least 2 blank pages.
• You do not overstay the allowed exemption period.
• You are not a BNO (British National Overseas) passport holder – BNOs are not eligible for visa exemption.
Staying Longer Than the Visa-Free Period?
Currently, visa exemption stays cannot be extended within Vietnam. If you wish to stay longer, you have two options:
1. Apply for a Vietnam eVisa (up to 90 days) before your trip.
2. Visa run: Leave Vietnam (e.g., to Cambodia or Thailand), then re-enter for another exemption period.

Special Exemption Zones – Phú Quốc Island
Travelers of any nationality may enter Phú Quốc Island visa-free for up to 30 days if they arrive directly to the island via an international flight or cruise. This applies even if they are not on the general visa exemption list.
